Favorite Back to School Books

Okay, so I almost don't want to write this post!  I have only been out of school for 16 days, and I still have three weeks of summer school ahead of me!  BUT I do have quite a few favorite back to school books that I read in the first few weeks of school.

This is my new favorite Kindergarten book.  It is about a very cute little boy who is super nervous to go to kindergarten.  It walks through every part of his day, from getting on the schoolbus to going home at the end of the day.  The kids loved it so much that I bought some extra copies and the book on CD from Scholastic.  They listen to it over and over again!

This is another adorable first day of kindergarten book.  The twist is that the parents are having a much harder time separating than the kids are!  A very cute recommendation to give to moms and dads to read at home.
EVERYONE loves The Kissing Hand!  We always read this at the beginning of the year, and I recommend it to parents as well.
This is my new go to book for little ones who have a hard time separating from their mommies.  It really worked for an especially teary little boy last year!  I had to buy an extra copy so that he could have one at home and one at school!

A few other favorites are:
  • The Miss Bindergarten Series
  • Wemberley Worried
  • Chrysanthemum (for introducing names)
  • Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School
  • Owl Babies (not exactly about school, but has a great message about missing mama)

Thank you so much for sharing that new book. I just ordered Kindergarten Rocks! Can't wait to get it! You can never have enough books about kindergarteners! The kids just love that!

Thanks!

I have never been here but I am stopping by to say hi to you. I love all the books you listed but another one you have to look at is Jake Starts School about separation anxiety. You will love it. I promise.
Now I have one question- where is Pete the Cat? I am just kidding. I need to come over and visit more often.
