Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss' birthday is is this Wednesday, March 2nd.  In honor of the late, great Theodor Seuss Geisel, I will be going a little Seuss crazy this week!

First up is my very favorite Seuss website, Seussville.  This website has great resources for teachers, and super fun Seuss themed games for kids.

Jessica Meacham has some fabulous Dr. Seuss activities here, and Room Mom 101 has tons of ideas here.

Last but not least, What the Teacher Wants has an entire, super cute unit that you can download!  I love all of these fabulous Seuss ideas!

My Favorite Things

I have seen some cute lists of teachers' favorite things, like this one.  Here are a few of my favorite things:

1.  Velcro.  I love Velcro in all shapes, colors and sizes, but the one I use most are the white dots.  I have also recently discovered industrial strength Velcro, which is great for holding up things that would normally fall down.

 2.  Mr. Sketch Markers.  These markers are the best for making anchor charts or doing shared writing with the kids.  They love the delicious smells and the vibrant colors (and so do I!).

3.  Dunkin' Donuts.  I can't live without my Dunkin' Donuts coffee in the morning.  Yum!

4.  Classic Royal Reading/Writing Center.  This easel is amazing... I couldn't live without it!  It has two white boards, a place for chart paper, four huge storage bins and even a place to store dry erase markers.

 5.  Mini Laminator. I keep this little guy at home and use it all the time.  It makes everything I create durable and almost impossible for the kids to bend or tear, meaning less work for me!  I always use the 5 mil. laminate, which is a little thicker than usual.  I highly recommend it!

Free Downloads

I have just come across two websites that have great free downloads.  The first one is Teachers Pay Teachers.  They have over 9,000 free downloads!  So far I have downloaded the Fluency Folder and the Cupcake Literacy Fun (which goes along with Laura Numeroff's If You Give a Cat a Cupcake).  Both are great!

I also am recently obsessed with Thistle Girl Designs.  She makes the cutest school clip art you have ever seen!  The freebie page is here.
Please share any great freebie websites that you have found!

More Teacher Discounts

I love to shop at A.C. Moore, and I was so happy to discover that they have a 10% discount for teachers.  Who knew?  You can use the card along with your regular A.C. Moore card.

To apply for the discount, mail a copy of your teachers union card or state issued teaching certificate along with your school name, school address, school phone number and the principal's name.  Also include your name, phone number, email and the address where the card should be mailed.

Mail your information to:
A.C. Moore
Attn: Teacher Discount Program
130 A.C Moore Drive
Berlin, NJ 08009

This might sound a little complicated, but it only took about five minutes, and for the price of a stamp this baby will save you a lot of money at A.C. Moore.

I also came across this fabulous list of teacher discounts by category.  It contains some of the discounts from my first post and a whole lot more!

Oops!

Things have been so busy lately that I haven't had much time to post at all.  I finally updated the background (it was turkeys, and it's February now!) and plan on writing more soon.  Thanks for reading!
